About the event
By popular demand, I will be offering my inaugural Foraging walk! I have been studying, going to workshops, cooking and sharing foraged, local foods for many years. Now, looking forward to sharing with those around me!
We will start at Trailhead#12 on the Lone Star Hiking Trail. This beautiful section of the trail has a nice, bio-diverse 1.2 mile loop. As we meander through the forest, along Big Creek, I will point out and identify native foods including; springtime weeds, mushrooms, trees and aquatics. Of course, this will all be specific to what is growing that day!
Upon returning to the trailhead, we will lay out blankets and enjoy a prepared picnic of recipes all containing local, foraged foods. I plan to bring my books and other study info to facilitate greater discussion as we snack. You can count on Forest Girl-Wild American Tea for sure! A more detailed menu will be provided closer to the season.
Bring usual hiking gear; comfy shoes, bug spray, hats, sunscreen, etc. You may prefer a personal blanket for picnicking.
https://www.paypal.com/donate/... As this is my first event of this kind, I am asking for donations. Pay what you can, are moved to or what you feel like (maybe consider the cost of food.) A portion of the donations will go to the Lone Star Hiking Trail Club.https://lonestartrail.org/
Separately: Double Lake Campground is close by. There is also a Privative Camp Ground on the trail for those interested in staying the night!
